    My name is McKinzie Gaines and I’m currently a professional soccer player for Houston Dynamo in Major League Soccer. Before coming here to Houston, I spent time playing for Charlotte Fc, Austin Fc, Hanover 96, Darmstadt 98, Sonnenhof Großaspach, FSV Zwickau and VfL Wolfsburg’s u19s. Over the course of my career and as a youth player, one of the main things I focused on was beating players off the dribble. I grew up idolizing players like Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo and I spent a lot of time trying to copy their moves and add my take on skills that they did in matches. Dribbling and 1v1 situations became things I really enjoyed and today I’d say they’re among my better attributes as a player. I began working with Guppy in January of 2024 at Nashville Sc and he presented his 1v1 formula that he’s so passionate about. Over the span of a few months Guppy showed me the importance of creating an aggressive angle with my dribble, combining a skill with a body movement and what it could do to my game in 1v1 situations. I can say that from a technical perspective, the time that I spent with Guppy before and after training sessions working at this was the most impactful of my career and it’s completely altered how I view 1v1 situations.
